The book makes a great promise in the subtitle, "the test of time, Battle-Hardened Guide for a start anything." I wondered if this book could live with that. "From what" refers to a company, not a career, school, or hobby.
Obviously it is impossible to create a comprehensive book of best business practice, because each company has its own variable. What works well for one another can kill. However, the book has this approach. Instead, he says that you are starting a business and the hard way to deal with venture capital (VC). If you expect a positive spin on things that are hard to do. Read a story instead.
Instead of abrasiveness and a "do this, do not do it" attitude, Kawasaki uses humor to explain the process. Anyone who owns a small business, including those around a few years will benefit. When you are ready to take action, use this book as a manual that comes with starting a business. Think about it, it will not make a successful business.
Each chapter begins with the substance, an overview of things to come. Each ends with questions, avoid common questions for reviewing the contents of principal and drilling in more than a better understanding and application.
Get simple tips, but important everyday business practices, such as how to give a strong presentation. How many times have you watched a presentation on each slide is over 20 words in 12 point and the presenter reads almost word by adding little to what is on transparency? Covers smart Kawasaki 10-20-30 rule. 10 slides, 20 minutes, and font size 30. Make changes in small practices could lead to reach the next milestone.
This book can be compared with a reference guide for starting a business and useful strategies: precisely what did not work hard or dry tongue. It is, however, larger than the fastest drivers, but a quick and easy reading in the world of new business and dealing with risk capital. If a resume does not participate, this book offers valuable tools and ideas to help with any business. However, new venture capitalists search technology will benefit most.
Trapped in a business plan? Knowing what is needed and not needed. Do not waste your time and use the book to do what is necessary will not be at sea.
If long hours and challenges are in the plans, then read a book of business romantic place. The Art of the Start shows how it is really difficult, but can be a bit easier with this book as a guide.
Get a taste of the book by reading changethis proclamation (http://www .. com / 1. ArtOfTheStart), a free download PDF. The 34-page document should give a clear idea whether the book is for you, because it contains the same elements found in the book. As a bonus, the manifesto contains great ideas for starting things, covered in the first chapter. If the material and the TOC sound attractive, you take it.
3. 0 out of 5 stars more like "a thing from" I have to hand to Guy Kawasaki. His book is titled very well and sells very well. Clearly knows marketing.
2. 0 out of 5 stars Curious at first, then disappointed Kawasaki offers a framework for those seeking funding, but otherwise offers little in the actual boot strapped start-ups seeking innovation.
Wow, go against the tide here. I chose this book with high hopes. Only met disappointment. The books premise says a lot, leads you to believe that this is a know-how of starting companies and organizations - of all kinds. And in a sense, this is true. But this book is geared to small businesses. In fact, the book is structured and intended only for those seeking venture capital and / or those already in business and want to start their own business. Basically, smaller technology-oriented.
Because of this I was very disappointed. Moreover, the tables are almost all useless and the exercises were a big waste of time. Exercises such as "the history of these entrepreneurs" or "Go to eBay and search the subject" or "fill the space … (If filling «wall» you). "Even the appointment, although some interest, it is waste of space that the book is literally layered with them all over the place.
Once again, I am really going against the grain. If you are seeking venture capital or are currently in the business world, this book is for you. Otherwise, there is little to learn from this book.
2. 5 stars.
5. 0 out of 5 stars A must-read for anyone wanting to start their own business This is not a meaningful book on starting your own business. Kawasaki cuts to the chase with honesty and humor. I highly recommend it for startups.
5. 0 out of 5 stars Authority Kawasaki jet engine comes with this book was recommended to me some years ago, in fact, by Kawasaki himself during a slide show for presentations.
4. 0 out of 5 stars The message is: start, stop thinking about it. Valuable advice and tips to start and not get stuck at the starting line.
This is a really great book. I did not expect to get much of it, I am experienced and I thought I knew a lot about starting a business and thinking on product development and marketing. I am an author myself, of two technical books (you can find me in the Amazon author index) so that understanding the process and have very high standards for reading and judging books.
I read the first 20 pages of a lot supposedly similar books and abandoned them. Time, after all, is one of the most valuable assets with the employer, and have my own vain. But the art of consultation were learning and thinking on each page, and got really excited about my business by reading this book could not be better than this.
Guy Kawasaki has a knack for getting right to the heart of the problem, a no nonsense way, which certainly needs entrpreneur all, I often thought: the point already!
And just about questioning one of the points the author makes (and this makes some points in bold you feel tempted to question) followed immediately by "for example …"; And these examples are so compelling and clear, just to join your point, change your point a bit, and continue.
I wrote an email from the moment Guy Kawasaki, while I was on a plane and was reading this book, I liked to say. Normally would never do that, but notes that the book should always include your email address and not hide from customers, and must respond to your email, so I thought it would be nice to write to him. So I did, and wrote back to thank me.
I read many "how to" books on many topics, from wood to business development, and this is one of the best ever written. Not sure if my test is forcing you to check it, but I think worth trying. I'm not usually recommended things, so my recommendation is the additional weight.
Get it. Read on.
